Maldives snorkling trip
During my stay on Maafushi i wanted to enjoy the crystal clear waters with a snorkling trip. You find many different your operators and hotels to choose your tour from. I decided on tha local place called Shadow Palm because they ate friends of some people I met. I also wanted to support a local place instead one of the bigger international hotel.
This was the best decision and I cant recommend Shadow Palm enough if you happen to be on Maafushi.
I booked half-day trip for $20 + taxes which includes stops in on different reefs, spot for dolphins, lunch on a sand bank and all the qear you need.
Everything worked really well and the guys are super friendly!

First it was time to see dolphins just on the coast of the island and we were very lucky that day to see like tens of them around the boat!
When arriving to the first reef it was time to gear up and plunge from the boat yo the bluest water ever. There were so many fish and corals and the guides also fed the fish with bread to gather then closer.
Second stop was Turtle reef which by it’s name is home to some of the sea turtles. We spotted on almost straight away. This was so amazing experience as the turtle stayed around and you could get so close to it. Remember not to touch any of the fish, animals or corals in the water!
On the next spot we saw turtles as well and it’s hard to get enough of them. I also tried to learn free diving with my local friend but this is just way too hard. But i will be back for practice, i promised!
Time flies while you’re having fun and soon it was lunch time. When the boat headed to the sand bank I was not believing my eyes how beautiful the place was. This little piece of land just popping out in the middle of the sea. We got some shades for luch so it was relaxing to sit down and enjoy the food and some rest. Above you can see some of the beach around the sand bank.
I certainly made the most out of it just by enjoying the beach and the water. It was so hard to leave this place once it was time to head out again.
The under water life in Maldives is so colourful and exciting that you will never want to get out of the water. Hundreds off fish, corals and turtles definately made my day and I will come back for this experience. On my day the group was not too big so it was easy to enjoy and get to know the people little bit as well as the guides.
All together such an amazing day with Shadow Palm. Couldn’t be happier with the experience. You can find Shadow Palm in Maafushi just on the first road from the bikini beach and they will tell you more about this trip and other options.
If your headed to Maldives snorkling is one of the easiest way to enjoy beach life and there are many different reefs and sand banks to go to. I hear the diving is also great but had to leave this for next time.
